A global bank’s Sydney branch ran every critical system through a single site with no disaster recovery. We designed, built, and tested a fully independent DR site proven to fail over without disruption.

When this global bank’s Sydney branch approached Extranet Systems, every critical business system, trading, customer service, compliance, and payments, ran through a single virtual desktop environment at one site. There was no disaster recovery. A single failure event would take every staff member offline at once.
For a bank, that is not an inconvenience. It is a regulatory event. The branch needed a disaster recovery capability that was designed, built, tested, and proven to actually work under real failover conditions. The risks were clear:
Our first priority was understanding the production environment in full before designing anything. Before we specified a single piece of hardware, we mapped every critical system, every dependency, and every recovery time requirement the bank needed to meet.
What became clear was that the solution needed to be more than configured. It needed to be proven. A disaster recovery site that had never been tested under failover conditions is not a disaster recovery site. It is a document. We designed the environment to mirror production in active-standby, replicated data in near real time, and built the entire solution around one requirement: when the main site goes down, staff log in and keep working without knowing anything happened.
"We went from a single point of failure to a fully tested, production-grade DR capability. Extranet Systems delivered exactly what a tier-one bank demands, on time and without compromise."Head of Infrastructure, Sydney Branch, Global Bank
We worked in focused phases with clear deliverables at each stage. The bank could see verified progress against every resilience requirement throughout the engagement. Nothing was signed off without being tested under real conditions.
We mapped the full production environment across every critical application, documented recovery time and recovery point objectives for each system, and designed a fully independent disaster recovery site architecture configured in active-standby to mirror production.
New high-performance hardware was installed at the secondary site and configured to match the production environment. Critical systems were set up for near real-time replication so the data at the DR site was always current and ready to take over without data loss.
The entire environment was tested under live failover conditions. Not configured and documented. Actually tested. Every critical system was verified to take over cleanly and at the speed a tier-one bank requires before the engagement was closed.
The impact was structural. A branch that had operated with a single point of failure across every critical business system now had a fully independent, tested, and production-grade disaster recovery capability that met the resilience standards of a global financial institution.
